WhatlaterWhatLater raises €1M to build your memory on WhatsApp
We have some news: WhatLater has closed a €1M seed round to build the memory layer of the world's most used messaging app.
WhatLater started from a simple observation: the place people already put the things they want to keep is their chats. Links forwarded to yourself, screenshots buried in a camera roll, voice notes that say "don't forget this" — WhatsApp is where modern memory happens, and it has no memory of its own.
So we built one. Send anything to WhatLater on WhatsApp — a link, a photo, a voice note, a document, a location — and it's saved, tagged, transcribed and searchable in a calm library you can open anywhere.
What the funding is for
Three things, in order: native iOS and Android apps with share-sheet saving and offline reading; growth — bringing WhatLater to the millions of people whose reading list died with Pocket; and keeping the core free and fast for everyone.
