WhatlaterPrivacy Policy

Whatlater ("we", "us") is a read-it-later service operated by Deal Technology. You save content by sending it to Whatlater on WhatsApp; we organize it and keep it available to you at app.whatlater.com. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. What we collect
- Your WhatsApp phone number. It is your Whatlater identity — we use it to know whose library a message belongs to and to send you login codes and replies.
- Messages you send to the Whatlater number. Links you save, and any text you write to the bot. We do not see any of your other WhatsApp conversations — only messages addressed to Whatlater.
- Saved-item data. For each saved link: the URL, page title, preview image, an AI-generated one-line summary, tags, and any notes you add. On the Premium plan we also store a copy of the article content so you can read it offline.
- Usage data. Clicks on your Whatlater short links (so your library can show what you opened), plan and subscription state, and standard technical logs.
- Payment data. Handled by Stripe on the web, and by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) for subscriptions purchased in the mobile apps. We never see or store your card number — we only keep your subscription status and a payment-provider customer reference.
How we use it
- To provide the service: saving, organizing, searching, and resurfacing your content.
- To power AI features: content you save and messages you send the bot are processed by Anthropic's Claude API to generate tags, summaries, and assistant replies. This processing is on our behalf, for your library only.
- To send messages you expect: save confirmations, login codes, replies to your questions, and — only if you enable it — the daily digest.
- To operate, secure, and improve the service.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use your saved content for advertising.
Who processes data for us
We use a small set of service providers, each only for its role:
- Meta (WhatsApp Business Platform) — message delivery.
- Anthropic (Claude API) — AI tagging, summaries, and assistant replies.
- Stripe — payments and subscriptions on the web.
- Apple & Google (with RevenueCat) — in-app subscriptions bought in the iOS and Android apps; RevenueCat validates purchases and relays subscription events to us.
- Railway — application hosting (EU region).
- Cloudflare — DNS, content delivery, and cookieless web analytics.
- Our group operations company (Türkiye) — day-to-day operations, development, and support on our behalf.
International transfers
Whatlater serves users worldwide. Your data is hosted in the EU (Railway, EU region). Some of our providers process data in the United States (Meta, Anthropic, Stripe, Cloudflare), and our group operations company in Türkiye may access data to run the service. Wherever your data travels, it stays under this policy: we rely on recognized transfer safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and equivalent contractual protections with every recipient.
Cookies
The web hub uses one essential cookie: your login session. Our website analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics) is cookieless. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete any saved item at any time from the hub; deleted items sit in Trash, where you can restore them, and are permanently removed after 30 days. To delete your account and all associated data, email [email protected] from a message containing your WhatsApp number — we complete deletion within 30 days.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under GDPR and Türkiye's KVKK), you have the right to access, correct, export, and delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Write to [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days.
Children
Whatlater is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will note it here with a new date and, for significant changes, tell you on WhatsApp or in the hub.
